Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187)

This visa is similar to the subclass 186 but is for skilled workers from outside Australia or skilled temporary residents who currently live and work in Australia to be employed in regional Australia.

The criteria are::

you are nominated by an approved employer who will nominate you for a position in their business in regional Australia.
you are younger than 50 years of age.
you meet the skills and qualifications requirements.
you meet English language requirements.

There are exemptions available relating to age, skills and English language ability.

It is possible to lodge an Expression of Interest if you do not have a nominating employer and then, prospective employers and Australian state and territory governments can go into the SkillSelect System, view your details and then nominate you for the permanent Australian visa.

Employers who apply through the RSMS Direct Entry will need to meet these:

The business is actively and lawfully operating in regional Australia.
The position is full-time and available to the visa applicant for at least two years.
The position has been certified by an RCB
The nominated position is classified as being a skill level 1-3 occupation in ANZSCO.
The prospective migrant will be paid ‘market rate’. That is, the nominee will be paid at least as much as an Australian employed in the same job.

Employers applying for an RSMS Temporary Residence Transition employer nomination will need to be actively and lawfully operating in regional Australia.

Skilled Independent Subclass 189 Visa Permanent

Skilled and experienced people can apply under this subclass for them and their families to settle permanently in Australia. The system is points based with points awarded for:

Partner Qualification
Australian Study

You must have competent English Language Skills and be under 50 years of age.

Skilled nominated subclass 190 visa (Permanent)

Skilled and experienced people who are sponsored by an Australian State or Territory can apply for them and their family to settle permanently in Australia. The system is points based with points awarded for:

Age
English Ability
Work Experience
Qualifications
Partner Qualification
Australian Study

You must have competent English Language Skills and be under 50 years of age.

Skilled nominated / sponsored subclass 489 (Provisional)

If you are sponsored by an Australian State or Territory or a relative living in a designated area of Australia, you can apply for this visa.

The requirements are:

Lodge an Expression of Interest through SkillSelect
Have a skilled occupation
Have your skills assessed
Have competent English Language Skills
Be under 50 years old

If you hold another temporary visa and are in Australian, you may be able to apply for this visa to enable you to work in Australia for an extra year to enhance your permanent residence chances.
