Contributory parent subclass 143 (Permanent)

The Parent Visa (Migrant), Subclass 103 visa allows parents to migrate to Australia permanently to join their children living in Australia.

To be eligible you must have a child who is an Australian citizen or eligible New Zealand citizen who is a permanent resident and settled in Australia and can pass the ‘balance of family test’.

Your child or other eligible sponsor in Australia must sponsor you and they must provide the Australian with an assurance of support on your behalf. Your spouse and other family members may be included in your application if they meet certain requirements.

With this visa you can study and work, access certain social security and be eligible to apply for Australian Citizenship. Your application can be made on or offshore but you must be offshore at the date the visa is granted.
