Onshore protection
The onshore component of the Refugee and Humanitarian program aims to provide options for people who are in Australia and wish to apply for protection (or asylum). There is one visa available for people onshore who wish to apply for protection.
Protection Visa (Class XA) (Subclass 866)
This visa allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident, having access to Medicare and Centrelink services and also receive a range of services to assist them in settling into life in Australia.
